Full job description

To support the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel by maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest comfort throughout bedrooms and public areas.

The Housekeeping team plays an important role in creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests and ensuring that rooms and hotel areas are presented in line with the standards expected of the Grant Arms Hotel.

Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Bedrooms

Clean and service guest bedrooms to a consistently high standard
Make beds and change bed linen in accordance with hotel procedures
Clean bathrooms, including baths, showers, toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors
Replenish towels, toiletries, tea and coffee facilities, and other guest amenities
Dust, vacuum, polish, and clean all bedroom surfaces and furnishings
Check rooms carefully before completion to ensure they are clean, comfortable, and well presented
Report any maintenance issues, damaged items, or missing equipment promptly
Follow procedures for lost property and items left behind by guests
Respect guest privacy and personal belongings at all times
Assist with preparing rooms for special occasions, VIP guests, or specific guest requests where required

Public Areas & General Housekeeping

Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout public areas of the hotel
Clean corridors, stairways, reception areas, lounges, toilets, and other designated areas
Ensure housekeeping cupboards, linen stores, and work areas remain clean, organised, and well stocked
Assist with the collection and distribution of clean and used linen
Monitor housekeeping supplies and notify the Head Housekeeper when stock levels are low
Follow correct procedures for the safe use and storage of cleaning products and equipment
Dispose of waste appropriately and support the hotel's environmental and recycling procedures
Work closely with reception, maintenance, and other departments to ensure rooms are available for guests on time
Respond promptly and courteously to reasonable guest requests
Support other members of the housekeeping team during busy periods

Health, Safety & Standards

Follow hotel health and safety procedures at all times
Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with COSHH requirements
Report hazards, accidents, maintenance issues, and potential safety concerns promptly
Maintain excellent personal hygiene and professional presentation
Follow hotel security procedures, including the safe handling of room keys and access to guest areas
Help maintain the high standards of cleanliness and presentation expected throughout the hotel

Requirements

Previous housekeeping, cleaning, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred, although training can be provided
High attention to detail and pride in maintaining excellent standards
Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
Friendly and professional approach when interacting with guests
Good organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards
Physically able to carry out housekeeping duties, including standing, bending, lifting, and moving housekeeping equipment
Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and holidays
Ability to work independently when required
