Job Description:

Position: Credit Control Executive
Location: Office-based (Colchester CO1 1JJ)
Pay: £13.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Credit Control Executive to lead and oversee the organisation’s credit control function. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining strong cash flow, reducing aged debt, and ensuring effective credit management strategies are in place.
This role requires a proactive leader with strong financial knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage processes and potentially a team.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage the full credit control cycle, including invoicing, collections, and account reconciliation
Develop and implement effective credit control strategies and policies
Monitor debtor ageing reports and take action to minimise overdue balances
Lead, support, and mentor credit control staff (if applicable)
Handle escalated or high-value accounts and resolve complex disputes
Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure timely payments
Prepare and present credit control reports and performance metrics
Collaborate with finance teams, including accounts payable, to ensure smooth operations
Continuously identify and implement process improvements

Skills & Experience

3–5 years of experience in credit control or accounts receivable
Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role preferred
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
Excellent leadership, organisational, and decision-making skills
Confident communicator with the ability to handle difficult conversations
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in spreadsheets and accounting/CRM systems
Experience working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment

Essential Requirements

GCSE (or equivalent)
Fluent English
Right to work in the UK
Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to Colchester CO1 1JJ
