Join our dynamic team at the University Information Services, contributing to the support of the university's timetabling and room booking systems. From initial system implementation to ongoing support, you'll acquire extensive experience in new enterprise technologies. Gain subject matter expertise in our timetabling systems, actively participating in large project implementations and providing continuous systems support.

Collaborate with users, providing guidance on leveraging information technology for business objectives and effective problem-solving. Dive into user requirements, explore IT solutions, oversee enterprise system implementations, and provide ongoing support for issues and change requests. Engage with in-house development teams and external vendors, offering your expertise and support.

While the work can be challenging, it's undeniably rewarding. This role serves as an excellent entry point for a career in IT, exposing you to diverse challenges and providing essential skills for professional growth. We will provide all necessary training as well as support from a very welcoming team.

The successful candidate is expected to take up the post from 23 November 2026.

Main Responsibilities

Provide functional support for university timetabling and room booking systems.
Investigate and resolve user queries and helpdesk tickets.
Perform annual system configuration and maintenance.
Gather, analyse and document requirements for system enhancements and projects.
Research solutions and support project planning and implementation.
Configure systems and conduct QA testing for new releases and enhancements.
Create and maintain clear system, process and user documentation.
Produce user guidance and training, including onboarding and in-person support.
Work with development teams, suppliers and business stakeholders.
Support system improvements and integrations.
Drive continuous improvement by simplifying processes and enhancing user experience.

Qualifications & Essential and Desirable Skills

Degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience.
Experience creating and maintaining teaching timetables or using complex scheduling systems.
Comfortable analysing datasets and producing reports.
Problem-solving skills, able to investigate issues, identify solutions and make informed decisions.
Proactive, organised and able to take ownership of tasks through to completion.
Excellent communication skills.
Able to produce accurate system, process and documentation.
Enthusiastic self-starter with an interest in learning technologies and enterprise systems.
Positive, customer-focused attitude able to build working relationships.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (inc. Excel) is essential; experience using collaboration and project tools (e.g. Confluence and Jira) is desirable.
Experience with API development, system integration or data exchange between enterprise services is desirable.
Business analysis, requirements or change management experience is desirable.
Experience supporting or contributing to project implementation or project management activities is desirable.
Knowledge of estate planning, space management or facilities management is desirable.
Experience working with data analysis, reporting, data quality or data management (for example, in a data-focused role or apprenticeship) is desirable.
Administrative experience with enterprise IT systems is desirable.
Interest in technical development, automation or system configuration is desirable.
