About FitKit UK
FitKit UK Ltd is one of the UK’s leading commercial and residential gym equipment specialists. We work with some of the biggest names in the fitness industry, delivering and installing gym equipment across the UK.
From individual home gym installations to large-scale commercial projects, our installation teams are responsible for delivering projects safely, professionally and to a consistently high standard.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Gym Installation Team Leader to join our installation team.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who has strong practical and technical ability, enjoys working with tools and equipment, and is ready to take responsibility for leading a team and delivering installations from start to finish.
The Role
As a Gym Installation Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of Installation Technicians on sites across the UK.
You will be the key point of contact on site, ensuring the team works safely, efficiently and professionally while installations are completed to FitKit UK’s high standards.
You will be expected to lead from the front — getting involved with the physical installation work while also managing the team, communicating with customers and resolving issues on site.
Projects vary considerably, from smaller two-person installations through to major commercial projects involving larger installation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise installation teams on commercial and residential gym equipment projects.
- Take responsibility for the successful completion of installations from arrival on site through to sign-off.
- Coordinate the daily workload and delegate tasks effectively across the team.
- Install, assemble and position a wide range of commercial and residential gym equipment.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Read and understand installation instructions, drawings and technical information.
- Carry out quality checks throughout the installation process.
- Ensure all equipment is installed correctly, safely and to manufacturer and company standards.
- Act as the main point of contact for customers and site representatives.
- Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times.
- Identify and resolve installation issues quickly and effectively.
- Complete site paperwork, photographs and installation sign-offs accurately.
- Ensure the team follows all company health & safety procedures and site-specific requirements.
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure tools and equipment are properly looked after.
- Support and train less experienced Installation Technicians.
- Work closely with the FitKit UK office and project management team to ensure projects run smoothly.
- Represent FitKit UK professionally at customer sites.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is technically capable, organised and confident leading a team.
- You should ideally have:
- Previous experience leading, supervising or managing an installation team.
- Strong experience using hand and power tools.
- A mechanical or engineering background would be highly advantageous.
- The ability to understand and follow technical instructions.
- Excellent practical problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The confidence to communicate professionally with customers and site managers.
- The ability to organise a team and manage competing priorities.
- A strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- A positive, "can-do" attitude.
- The ability to remain calm and find solutions when issues arise on site.
- A professional and reliable approach to work.
- The physical ability to safely lift, carry and manoeuvre heavy gym equipment.
Previous gym equipment installation experience is highly desirable, but candidates with strong mechanical, engineering, construction, furniture installation or similar practical experience will also be considered.
Full training on our equipment and installation processes will be provided where required.
Travel & Working Hours
This is a UK-wide installation role, so significant travel is required.
You will be expected to:
- Attend early morning starts, typically between 5:00am and 6:00am, depending on the project location.
- Travel throughout mainland UK.
- Stay away from home when required — typically around 2 nights per week, although this can vary depending on projects.
- Work weekends and bank holidays when required.
- Work until the project is completed rather than having a fixed finishing time.
- Be comfortable working a minimum of 45 hours per week, with additional hours possible depending on project requirements.
Additional payments are available for weekends, bank holidays and nights away from home.
Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Minimum 2 years' experience using hand and power tools.
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.
- Own transport to reliably reach our NN6 6JU meeting point for early morning starts.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK.
- Willingness to stay away from home.
- Physically capable of carrying out heavy lifting and manual installation work.
What We Offer
- £35,100 – £36,270 per annum, depending on experience.
- Additional pay for weekends.
- Additional pay for Bank Holidays.
- Additional payment for nights away from home.
- Company pension scheme.
- Full training and ongoing development.
- Opportunity to progress within a growing UK-wide business.
- The opportunity to work on a wide variety of commercial and residential projects.
- A permanent position within a directly employed installation team.
