Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Optical Assistant to join our professional team. This role involves supporting optometrists in delivering high-quality eye care services. The successful candidate will assist with patient interactions, optical measurements, and equipment handling, contributing to a welcoming and efficient practice environment. Prior laboratory experience and knowledge of human anatomy are advantageous, but full training will be provided. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing a career within the optical industry.

Responsibilities

Assisting optometrists with patient examinations and measurements, including fitting lenses and frames
Preparing and maintaining optical equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper calibration
Supporting the dispensing of spectacles and contact lenses, including adjustments and fittings
Managing patient records accurately and efficiently
Providing excellent customer service by answering queries and guiding patients through their options
Assisting in laboratory tasks such as lens cutting, edging, and assembly when required
Maintaining a tidy and organised work environment in compliance with health and safety standards

Experience

Laboratory experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for all technical tasks
Knowledge of human anatomy related to the eye is beneficial for understanding patient needs
Previous experience working in a healthcare or customer service setting is advantageous
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour to ensure positive patient interactions

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
