Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals facing homelessness and domestic abuse? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and motivated Homelessness Prevention & Relief Officer - Domestic Abuse to join our Housing Service team.

This is anexcellent opportunity to contribute to the prevention and relief of homelessness while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role
As a Homelessness Prevention & Relief Officer - Domestic Abuse, you will be responsible for:

Delivering high-quality advice, information, and support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse and homelessness.
Conducting thorough assessments of needs and risks, ensuring appropriate interventions are put in place.
Working collaboratively with external agencies and organisations to provide comprehensive support to clients.
Implementing effective homelessness prevention strategies to minimise the risk of individuals falling into homelessness.
Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and maintaining accurate case records.

This role is a 12 month fixed term position from the start date – Funding Limited project.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

Knowledge and understanding of homelessness legislation, particularly in relation to domestic abuse.
Experience in providing advice, support, and advocacy to individuals facing homelessness and domestic abuse.
Strong assessment and intervention skills, with the ability to identify and address the needs of vulnerable individuals.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and external stakeholders.
Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
Organised and able to manage a caseload effectively, ensuring timely interventions and accurate record-keeping.

You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service.
