Welder / Fabricator

Location: Viking Engineering Ltd, Southampton, SO14 3EW

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent or CIS Subcontractor

Pay:

PAYE: Up to £20.00 per hour
CIS Subcontractor: Up to £25.00 per hour
Pay is negotiable depending on experience and ability.

Viking Engineering Ltd is a small, family-run engineering business based in Southampton. We pride ourselves on producing high-quality structural steelwork and bespoke fabrications while looking after the people who make it possible.

We're looking for an experienced Welder / Fabricator to join our existing team. We value hardworking, reliable employees and reward those who consistently go above and beyond with performance bonuses.

The Role

The successful candidate will be involved in the manufacture of structural steelwork and bespoke fabrications for a wide range of projects.

The role is primarily workshop based and consists mainly of flux-cored and solid wire MIG welding, along with fabrication duties.

Key Responsibilities

MIG welding using flux-cored and solid wire processes.
Welding to a coded standard.
Fabricating structural steelwork and bespoke metalwork.
Reading and interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings.
Using hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
Operating band saws, grinders, plasma cutting equipment and oxy-acetylene equipment when required.
Working to a high standard of quality while maintaining a safe and tidy working environment.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience as a Welder/Fabricator.
Ability to weld to a coded standard.
Strong MIG welding experience.
Ability to read and work from technical drawings.
Good fabrication skills.
Reliable, motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills

Previous welding codings (current or expired).
Experience with MMA (Stick) welding.
Experience with TIG welding.
Experience working on structural steel projects.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday
7:00am – 3:30pm
Minimum 40-hour working week
Overtime available
