You'll work as part of a specialist team responsible for microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and maintaining the highest standards of laboratory compliance.
What you'll be doing
In this role, you'll support the day-to-day activities of our microbiology laboratory, ensuring testing and monitoring activities are carried out accurately and in compliance with GMP standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Performing microbiological testing, including:
Growth Promotion Testing (GPT)
Environmental Monitoring
Microbial identification using conventional methods and MALDI-TOF technology
Reviewing, evaluating and trending microbiological test results where applicable
Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and housekeeping standards
Carrying out routine laboratory cleaning in line with schedules and operational requirements
Performing equipment maintenance checks and coordinating calibration and servicing activities with external providers
Managing stock levels of critical laboratory consumables and reagents
Accurately recording data and maintaining laboratory documentation
Ensuring compliance with MHRA Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations and infection prevention and control requirements
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining a safe, organised working environment
Who we're looking for
We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a structured laboratory setting and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
You'll bring:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organisational and interpersonal skills
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Strong data entry and document management skills
A willingness to learn new skills and develop scientific knowledge
Previous experience within a laboratory or pharmaceutical environment
Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
Knowledge of microbiology techniques, including:
Aseptic technique
Culturing and plating methods
Microscopy
Experience adhering to biosafety requirements and laboratory regulations
