Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a General Practitioner (GP) to join our established and highly successful Research Team. The post holder will play a key role in delivering high-quality clinical research across Cornwall, supporting the identification, screening and recruitment of participants into research studies and ensuring the safe delivery of study-related procedures.

As a Principal Investigator, you will provide clinical oversight for research participants, ensuring studies are conducted in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory requirements and Trust policies. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will help embed research into routine clinical practice, promote research opportunities, and contribute to improving patient outcomes and advancing innovative healthcare across Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

Essential criteria

Full GMC Registration and licence
CCT/SER
Evidence of a commitment to on-going personal and professional development

Desirable criteria

Higher post graduate membership, eg MRCGP, MRCP
ICH GCP training

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of working as a GP in a primary care setting
Credibility with peers and colleagues
Experience of multi-disciplinary working
Ability to interpret blood tests, ECG’s and radiographic images
Knowledge and experience of local NHS services and policies and how they are configured

Desirable criteria

Experience of working on Clinical Trials
Phlebotomy and cannulation skills
Experience of teaching doctors-in-training and undergraduates
