The role & what you will be doing:

We currently have an opportunity for multiple Chemical Manufacturing Operators (CMO) in the Operations team. Reporting to the Shift Manager, this role involves a wide range of tasks that include:

Chemical plant manufacturing operations, including monitoring and control of operations in both manual and computerised systems.
Liaison and teamwork with other team members to achieve the schedule of work.
Product quality testing at intermediate and finished stages.
Reporting problems to relevant parties and contributing diagnosis and/or solutions to assist the timely and efficient continuation of processing.

If successful in your application to become a CMO, you will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to work as you will be required to work a 12hr continuous shift system (days and nights) and take part in emergency response roles as directed by the company. These include; fire crew, incident control and first aider.

As a new Chemical Manufacturing Operator, you will be working as well as studying towards a Level 3 Process Industry Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship, which will combine the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a CMO at Briar Chemicals. This will require work-based training and home study to achieve competence as an operator.

What you will bring:

The production schedule is extremely demanding offering both physical and mental challenges.

Essential qualifications:

GCSE Grade C and above/ Grade 9-4 in English and Maths. Evidence of these qualifications will need to be provided prior to interview.

Preference will be given to applicants who are able to demonstrate the following skills:

Relevant experience in a similar process industry
A thorough understanding of Health and Safety practices
A methodical and organised approach to work
City & Guilds and NVQ or equivalent qualifications in Processing Industries Operations.
You will need to be committed to achieving high work standards.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes an annual bonus, group personal pension scheme where we will match your contributions plus 2%, private healthcare scheme, and equivalent of 33 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays.
