About the Role
Wellbeing Pharmacy is looking for a motivated Pharmacist to join Framlingham Pharmacy as a Pharmacist Manager (in Training).
This is a busy branch with a strong volume of NHS and private pharmacy services, giving you additional earning potential through quarterly incentive payments on each qualifying service you personally perform after the branch meets its monthly target.
The role would particularly suit a pharmacist with at least one year of community pharmacy experience in England, or a business-minded newly qualified pharmacist whose foundation training was completed in a strong independent community pharmacy environment. Your interview, previous pharmacy experience and foundation training background will help determine suitability.
Framlingham is an attractive rural Suffolk market town and this role is particularly suitable for someone who drives, or who is prepared to relocate within practical commuting distance. The area offers a peaceful rural lifestyle and is well suited to individuals or families. Ipswich offers a wider choice of accommodation and frequent direct rail services to London, with faster journeys of around one hour or less. Framlingham also has scheduled bus links with Ipswich, although driving provides much greater flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- NHS and Private Services Growth: Achieve and grow monthly NHS and private service targets by increasing service activity, appointment availability and patient uptake.
- Patient Engagement and Prescription Growth: Build strong local patient relationships, encourage appropriate prescription nomination and use opportunities such as prescription collection, OTC/P-Medicine sales and vaccinations to identify patients for relevant services.
- Service Development: Help the whole pharmacy team identify eligible patients, improve service access and grow the branch as a local healthcare destination.
- Professional and Clinical Standards: Practise safely in accordance with GPhC standards, ensuring accurate dispensing, appropriate counselling, sound clinical judgement and high standards of patient care. You may also be requested to act as an Authorising Pharmacist for Framlingham Pharmacy or a nearby branch under emergency operational protocols.
- Team Leadership and HR: Develop practical management experience including rota planning, locum pharmacist requests, absence and lateness management, return-to-work processes, colleague performance and appropriate HR escalation.
- Payment and Cash Handling: Supervise branch payment and cash handling procedures, or support delegated team members already responsible for these tasks, ensuring records are accurate and discrepancies are reported promptly.
- Entrepreneurial Branch Operations: Manage efficient workflow, deploy staff effectively, support other branches where appropriate, use purchasing platforms and buying strategies to protect margins, and maintain tight stock control including transfer of unused stock and response to changing local prescribing patterns.
- Career Development: Develop towards full Pharmacist Manager responsibility through practical on-the-job experience. After at least three years of outstanding and remarkable performance, you may be considered for an opportunity to become a business partner in a branch, subject to available opportunities and management decision.
Salary & Incentives
£58,000–£61,000 per year, depending on experience and suitability.
In addition, pharmacists can earn quarterly incentive payments on qualifying NHS and private services personally performed after the branch meets its monthly service target, providing additional income directly linked to service activity.
Relocation Support
We offer up to £1,500 relocation support, payable after completion of one full month of work and continuation of your probationary period.
