Mentor (32.5 Hours per Week) – EOTAS Package

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and committed Mentor to support a bright and engaging 5-year-old boy who is educated through an Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) package.
The child has a diagnosis of Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and requires a nurturing, play-based approach to learning that supports his communication, development, and emotional wellbeing.
Essential Requirements
Level 4 Teaching Qualification (or equivalent).
Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one before employment).
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to plan and deliver an engaging, play-based curriculum tailored to the child's individual needs.
A flexible, patient, and creative approach to supporting learning.
Desirable
Experience supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs, particularly Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS).
Experience working within an EOTAS or alternative education setting.
Previous experience with CAS is preferred but not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided for the right candidate.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
Build a positive, trusting relationship with the child.
Deliver a personalised, play-based learning programme that promotes communication, confidence, and independence.
Work closely with the wider professional team, including Educational Psychologists and other specialists involved in the child's support.
Be guided and mentored by the child's Speech and Language Therapist to implement communication strategies and therapy recommendations throughout daily learning.
Monitor progress, maintain records, and contribute to regular review meetings.
Support the child's social, emotional, and educational development in a safe, nurturing environment.
