About the team

The apprentice role sits within the policy team at Ofqual. The Policy Team helps decide how qualifications should work and be regulated.

They translate big questions (like How should GCSEs be assessed?) into clear rules and approaches. This includes current work on qualification reform, shaping the GCSEs and A levels of the future.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and organised Apprentice to join Ofquals Policy Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop valuable skills while working at the heart of qualification regulation, supporting high-profile policy projects that impact learners and other users of qualifications across the country.

As an Apprentice Policy Officer, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the development and delivery of qualification policy. You will work closely with colleagues across Ofqual, including senior leaders, and engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Alongside your role, you will complete the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, building professional skills that will support your long-term career.

The core skills required for the role include the ability to express ideas clearly, engage effectively with others, build strong working relationships and the ability to deliver high-quality work on time

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, methodical and eager to learn. You dont need prior policy experiencejust the right skills and a desire develop in the role.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles , and will assess your Behaviours and Experience.

You will be assessed on the Behaviours shown above at interview stage.

Ofqual works flexibly, with a hybrid office/home based working model. Employees will spend a minimum of two days per week working from our office in Coventry. As Coventry will be your base location expenses for travel to the office will not be paid.

Final panel interviews will be held in person. Further details will be provided at invite to interview stage.

One of our resourcing colleagues will be on hand to answer any queries you may have throughout the process.

Please be aware that expenses incurred by candidates during the recruitment process will not be reimbursed.

A reserve list may be held for up to 6 months. Ofqual may use this to fill future suitably similar vacancies for candidates who are considered appointable following interview.
