Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Pre School Assistant to join our vibrant team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the development and well-being of young children, particularly those with special educational needs. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help create an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child can thrive. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives while gaining valuable experience in special education and early childhood care.

Please note this is a temporary position (September - June)

Relevant childcare Qualification minimum level 2

Responsibilities

Assist staff in delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate activities tailored to individual needs.
Support children with SEN by implementing personalized learning strategies and behavioural support plans.
Foster a safe, inclusive environment that encourages social interaction, communication, and emotional growth among children.
Provide one-on-one support to a pre school child with special educational needs, ensuring they feel valued and supported throughout their day.
Communicate effectively with children, colleagues, and parents to promote understanding and collaboration on each child's progress.
Help maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that adheres to health and safety standards.
Observe and document children's development, sharing insights with the team to inform ongoing support plans.

Experience

Up to 1 years experience working 1:1 supporting a child with additional needs
Prior experience working with children in an educational or care setting is essential.
Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is highly desirable.
Background in childcare or special education enhances your ability to adapt activities for diverse learners.
Knowledge of NI pre school curriculum ensures effective support for our learners.
Strong communication skills are crucial for collaborating with team members and engaging positively with children and families.
