Job Summary
Most accounts jobs are just jobs.
We're a- family business in Penarth managing over fifty residential and commercial sites across South Wales. We've spent years trying to change the way people experience property management — real transparency, genuine accountability, the kind of service a lot of this industry stopped offering a long time ago.
That only works if the numbers are right. And the numbers are only right if the right person is looking after them.
Who this probably isn't for.
If you're happiest when someone else does the thinking and you just need to follow instructions — this probably isn't the right fit.
We manage over fifty sites, each with its own quirks and history. The role needs someone who can get to grips with that variety, notice when something doesn't look right, and use their judgement rather than wait to be told what to do. That's not something that suits everyone — and that's fine.
We're not looking for someone to fill a seat. We're looking for someone who will make the role their own.
What you'll actually be doing.
Entering invoices, payment runs, bank reconciliations, keeping Xero up to date, raising recharges, managing client invoicing, and handling service charge and ground rent billing across all our sites. You'll monitor and chase arrears, manage the accounts mailbox, and deal with ad hoc queries and calls. No two days are exactly alike.
You'll be trained and supported from day one — our team is good at that. What we need is someone who picks things up quickly, builds confidence in the role, and has the initiative to act on what they know rather than waiting to be told.
The kind of person who succeeds here.
● Picks up new information quickly and retains it
● Notices something is off and looks into it before being told to
● Diligent without being slow — accurate and efficient in equal measure
● Communicates clearly, even when the answer isn't what someone wants to hear
● Cares about doing it right, not just getting it done
● Works hard and supports the people around them
What we're looking for.
Some experience working in an accounts team — enough to be comfortable with the day-to-day fundamentals. You don't need to have done everything; you do need to be ready to learn and take ownership once you have. Xero experience is a bonus but not essential.
We want someone conscientious, switched on, and genuinely motivated by doing good work. This is a role that will grow with you if you're the right person for it.
What we offer.
✓ £25,000–£27,000 pro rata (30 hours per week) dependent on experience
✓ Real ownership — you'll be trusted to manage your work
✓ A team that genuinely supports each other
✓ A business with purpose, not just processes
✓ A family business where you're a person, not a resource number
How to apply.
Send us your CV and answer these two questions — a few paragraphs each is plenty:
→ Tell us about a time you showed initiative. What did you do?
→ What does “doing a good job” mean to you in an accounts role?
If you can answer those honestly and mean it — we want to hear from you.
