Full job description

Overview

General Assistant required for a long-running, well-established 52-bedroom, 4-star, country house hotel in the spectacular mid-Wales countryside.

* Live-in accommodation available for those willing to relocate.

Our exceptional front-of-the-house team has a vacancy for an energetic and enthusiastic General Assistant.

Duties

Serve drinks and beverages to customers in a friendly and efficient manner
Take orders accurately and handle cash or card payments with precision
Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, including glassware, utensils, and work surfaces
Restock bar supplies as needed to ensure smooth service throughout shifts
Assist with food preparation when required, ensuring adherence to food safety standards
Upsell drinks and promotions to maximise sales opportunities
Provide excellent guest services by engaging courteously and attentively with customers
Ensure compliance with licensing laws and responsible alcohol service policies
Support the team during busy periods by assisting with general bar operations and guest needs

Experience

Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant settings is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling of beverages is advantageous
Experience in serving or bartending roles demonstrates strong customer service skills
Basic maths skills are necessary for handling transactions accurately
Kitchen or culinary experience can be beneficial for understanding food preparation processes
Strong time management skills are essential to prioritise tasks efficiently during busy periods
Ability to work well within a team and deliver excellent guest services consistently
