Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Pizza Chef Assistant to join our busy Italian cheff at our kitchen; it involves supporting the preparation and cooking of delicious pizzas, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts, a keen eye for detail, and previous experience in a food environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a vibrant restaurant setting in a family business.

Duties

Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping vegetables, grating cheese, and portioning toppings.
Support the main chef in assembling pizzas according to specified recipes and customer preferences.
Help with cooking tasks such as baking pizzas in the oven and monitoring cooking times.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing utensils and sanitising surfaces.
Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to during food preparation and handling.
Supporting the cafeteria area where necessary by accepting/charging for orders and front of house work.
Restock ingredients and supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Support serving staff during busy periods by delivering prepared dishes to customers when required.

Skills

Experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards.
Previous restaurant or culinary experience is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is important.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
Good organisational skills with attention to detail when preparing ingredients and assembling dishes.
Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards colleagues and customers.
Basic understanding of meal preparation techniques and food presentation standards. This role provides an engaging environment for those passionate about culinary arts, offering valuable experience in pizza making and kitchen operations within a supportive team atmosphere.
