Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our Bakery & Pastry Shop team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant culinary environment, supporting the preparation and presentation of a variety of baked goods and pastries. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent organisational skills, and a keen eye for safety and hygiene standards. This paid position is suitable for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills within a professional setting.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of bakery items and pastries according to recipes and quality standards
Support the food preparation process, ensuring ingredients are measured, prepared, and stored correctly
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including work surfaces, utensils, and equipment
Help with the organisation of ingredients and supplies to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Follow food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times
Assist with serving customers when required, providing friendly and efficient service
Support the team during busy periods by helping with additional tasks as needed
Ensure all health and safety guidelines are adhered to within the kitchen environment

Skills

Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Basic understanding of meal preparation and food handling techniques
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Good communication skills and a friendly demeanour when serving customers
Willingness to learn new skills and work collaboratively within a team
Experience in culinary arts or kitchen experience is advantageous but not mandatory
