Coverage: South of West Mercia (Herefordshire & Worcestershire) with occasional travel to North of West Mercia to cover annual leave
Expectations: Minimum of 2 days per week in base office with flexibility for hybrid working, dependant on the needs of the business.
Holidays: 26 days plus statutory holidays per annum to be calculated pro rata

Axis overview
Axis Counselling is a charity which has been supporting survivors of sexual abuse for over 30 years. We support adults and children aged from 5 years and over, plus family members and loved ones. We currently provide services via our five departments: Counselling; Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) Service; Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) Service; Complex Care Pathfinder and Training/ Education.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To work within a West Mercia wide ISVA Service across Shropshire, Telford, Worcester and Hereford to develop and facilitate peer group support, psychosocial education and CJS information groups for survivors of sexual abuse.
The successful applicant will be required to understand and operate within the Axis organisation’s policies, procedures and guidelines and work to the principles of equal opportunities.
This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
KEY TASKS
- Co-deliver a programme of psychosocial education in a group setting, for survivors of sexual abuse.
- Facilitate the delivery of groups including arranging delivery dates, venues and complete risk assessments with potential attendees.
- Co-deliver peer support groups, and support the development of materials
- Collaborate with survivors to ensure that service offers are appropriately meeting their needs at the right time.
- Collaborate with survivors following completion of group to review their risk and need and plan for next steps in support.
- Advocate on behalf of survivors of sexual violence to ensure they can have access to a range of services based on individual need.
- Attend awareness raising events to raise awareness of Axis ISVA Service.
- Work in collaboration with multiagency partners to ensure that the most appropriate support is provided to individual survivors.
- Ensure that all safeguarding concerns are dealt with in a consistent manner, in line with Axis’ policies and procedures.
- Promote awareness of the group offers.
- Carry out administrative processes relating to group-work.
- Assist in the evaluation of the service by contributing to data collection.
- Maintain effective time management to ensure clients are not kept waiting.
- Participate in providing one to one consultation on Axis Support Hub.
- Hold a caseload of clients accessing groupwork.
