Dog Walker / Driver – Part-TimeOverview
We are looking for a reliable, experienced and animal-loving Dog Walker / Driver to join The London Hounds.
This is a part-time, hands-on role combining professional dog walking with the safe collection and transportation of clients’ dogs.
You will begin by collecting dogs from clients’ homes, transporting them safely to an agreed walking location to meet the rest of the team, taking part in the main structured walks, and then returning each dog safely home afterwards.
This collection, walking and drop-off process will typically be repeated 2–3 times throughout the working day.
The role requires someone who is confident handling dogs of different breeds and sizes, comfortable driving around North London, highly organised and able to represent The London Hounds professionally when interacting with clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect dogs safely and punctually from clients’ homes
- Transport dogs securely in a company vehicle
- Drive between client homes and agreed walking locations throughout the day
- Meet the wider team at designated locations for structured group walks
- Conduct safe, engaging and well-managed dog walks
- Return dogs safely to their homes following each session
- Complete approximately 2–3 collection, walk and drop-off rounds per day
- Safely load and unload dogs from the vehicle
- Ensure dogs are properly secured and comfortable during transportation
- Monitor behaviour, health and wellbeing throughout walks and transportation
- Follow individual instructions and care requirements for each dog
- Keep the vehicle clean, organised and presentable
- Communicate effectively with the team regarding collections, timings, delays and handovers
- Maintain a professional and respectful presence when entering or collecting from clients’ properties
- Represent The London Hounds to a consistently high standard
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Confident and competent driving around London
- Proven experience handling dogs, either professionally or through extensive personal experience
- Confidence handling strong breeds and multiple dogs
- Good understanding of dog behaviour and body language
- Reliable, punctual and highly responsible
- Excellent time management and ability to follow a daily collection schedule
- Comfortable working independently as well as alongside a team
- Physically fit and comfortable walking for extended periods
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Must be based in London and able to reliably travel to the required working area
Highly Desirable
- Previous professional dog walking or animal-care experience
- Previous experience transporting dogs
- Experience working with multiple dogs in controlled group environments
- Knowledge of dog training or behaviour management
- Familiarity with Hampstead and surrounding North London areas

Important
This is not simply a driving role. You will be responsible for dogs from the moment they are collected until they are safely returned home.
The position requires excellent judgement, safe driving, confident dog handling and strong time management. You will regularly interact with clients and access their properties, so trust, professionalism and attention to detail are essential.
