2026 is the year Solidcor moves into a brand-new, state-of-the-art production facility, built from the ground up around a completely new way of working. We're investing in machinery imported from America, Italy, Spain and China — some of the most capable door-manufacturing technology in the world, brought together under one roof.

The Role
As a Bench Joiner, you'll be at the heart of how a genuinely life-safety product gets made — taking certified components and turning them into finished, fully compliant doorsets that will protect people in the buildings they go into. Every joint, every fixing, every finish has to be right, every time. On a fire door, there's no such thing as close enough. Tou’ll own your own area, and be passionate about the life saving device your producing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and finish fire door sets to exact certified specifications, working accurately from technical drawings and test evidence.
- Machine, cut and prepare timber and composite components to precise tolerances using bench and power tools.
- Fit ironmongery, hinges, intumescent seals and locking systems in strict accordance with each door's tested configuration.
- Apply facings, veneers and finishes to a standard befitting a premium product.
- Check your own work at every stage — on our line, quality is caught at the bench, not at the end of it.
- Maintain full traceability records for every doorset, supporting Solidcor's compliance and certification standards.
- Keep your bench and work area organised, clean and safe.
- Raise ideas for improving process, quality or pace — we act on good ideas from the shop floor, not just from the top.
What We're Looking For
- Proven bench joinery experience — cabinet making, door or window manufacturing, shopfitting, or a similarly high-tolerance timber trade.
- A genuine pride in precision: you'd notice a hairline gap before anyone had to point it out to you.
- Confidence reading technical drawings and specifications.
- NVQ / City & Guilds in Carpentry & Joinery, or equivalent time-served experience, preferred.
- Experience with fire doors or other certified/regulated products is a strong advantage, though not essential — we'll train the right person on our specific standards and testing requirements.
- Above all, cultural fit. This role is for people who bring our three values to life on the bench every day.
