Full job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join Greencroft Milk Supplies as an Assistant Accountant. This important role sits within our small busy accounting department where you will be a key member contributing to an efficient, organised and accurate finance function. Working with the Group Finance Director, you will support a wide range of day to day financial operations that help ensure the smooth running of the business. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in finance, be highly skilled and self-motivated bringing knowledge of accounting procedures. You will be enthusiastic, professional, organised, diligent and able to work to strict deadlines with excellent attention to detail both independently and as part of the small team.

Requirements

· A minimum of three years’ experience working in finance.

· Sage accounts experience.

· Strong Excel skills are essential and must be comfortable learning new finance systems.

· Relevant qualification in finance or accounting e.g. AAT are desirable but not essential with relevant experience.

· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Have a positive committed attitude.

· Experience of working in the owner managed sector desirable but not essential.

· High levels of integrity, discretion and focus.

Key Responsibilities

· Purchase ledger duties to include checking and posting purchase invoices, running aged creditor reports identifying supplier payments due, creating supplier payments and reconciling statements at month end.

· Credit control to include issuing weekly reports and copy invoices.

· Monthly aged debt reporting on group accounts – issuing monthly statements.

· Recording bank receipts.

· Recording and reconciling credit card payments.

· Issuing purchase order numbers.

· Update bank reconciliation in Sage.

· Reconciling bank receipts to bank statements.

· Exporting data between systems and carrying out reconciliations.

· Raising sales invoices – inter company, staff recharges and workshop.

· Prepare weekly reports for invoice uploads to the bank and reconcile at month end.

· Reconciling and raising charges to a major customer.

· Calculating and raising commissions due.

· Provide information to allow cash flow preparation.

· Providing detail on some overheads.

· Assist in preparation of accruals and prepayments.

· Reconciling credit card statement.

· Posting month end journals.

· Collating data – gathering, organising and processing information.

· Updating product costs in the system.
