Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Groundworker/Slinger to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient movement of materials and equipment on-site, ensuring that operations run smoothly. This role requires a keen eye for safety, good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Prior construction experience is desirable, along with a valid driving licence.

Duties

Assist with the safe lifting, positioning, and securing of materials using appropriate slinging techniques
Operate and guide lifting equipment such as cranes and lorries to move heavy loads around site
Maintain clear communication with crane operators and other team members to coordinate movements
Conduct routine inspections of slings and lifting gear to ensure safety standards are met
Support site safety procedures by adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
Assist in site preparation and clean-up activities as required
Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with project specifications and safety guidelines

Experience

Previous construction experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Strong communication skills in English to effectively liaise with team members and supervisors
Valid driving licence is essential to operate site vehicles and transport equipment between locations
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy loads safely
Good organisational skills with an organised approach to work tasks
