Are you organised, careful with detail and looking to start a career in education data and compliance? Tech Educators is hiring a Data Returns Clerk to help us submit accurate, timely data to our funding authorities behind.
This is an entry-level role, so we don't expect you to know everything about the Individualised Learner Record (ILR) or the Learning Records Service (LRS) on day one. We do expect you to be a quick learner who takes pride in getting the details right – because the data you submit directly protects the funding that lets our learners change their careers.
About Tech Educators
Tech Educators delivers funded coding Bootcamps and Adult Skills Fund programmes that help people start new careers in tech. Our learners come to us from all walks of life and leave ready forTech, data and digital roles. Behind every successful cohort is a small operations team making sure the learner records, returns and audits are watertight – and that's where this role sits.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and checking data returns to funding authorities
- Completing the monthly ILR return – entering, checking and correcting learner data, and flagging validation errors for review.
- Creating, verifying and updating Unique Learner Numbers (ULNs) on the Learning Records Service.
- Auditing learner files and evidence packs to make sure everything is present, accurate and signed in line with funding rules.
- Maintaining trackers of starts, in-learning, completions and outcomes against contract profiles, and producing monthly performance summaries.
- Supporting Skills Bootcamps administration end-to-end, from enrolment and eligibility checks through to outcome and milestone evidence.
- Helping the finance team by providing the learner-level data they need for invoicing, and cross-checking submissions against finance records.
- Sharing reception duties at Head Office – phones, messages and learner correspondence.
What we're looking for

- A genuine eye for detail – you spot the typo, the missing date, the duplicate record.
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) and learning new systems.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Well organised, able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise.
- Discreet and trustworthy – you'll handle sensitive learner data.
- The right to work in the UK and willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check (we cover the cost).
Desirable (nice to have, not required):
- Any administrative experience, especially in education, training, local government or a regulated environment.
- Awareness of the Further Education and Skills sector
- Experience using a CRM or MIS (e.g. HubSpot, PICS, OneFile or similar).
What we offer
- Permanent, full-time role – 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.

- A friendly, mission-driven team helping people transform their careers through tech.
