Interior Designer (28 - 32 hours per week)

About us
Rosella Interiors is a small London studio designing homes, developments and commercial spaces. We take projects from the first client consultation right through to handover; interior architecture, concept design, FF&E specification and procurement, through construction, staging and styling. Every project is bespoke, and no two are the same.
There are three of us. You would work directly alongside the director, our Managing Director, who leads the design direction on every project, and our in-house architect, who produces the technical drawings. That means you'll be close to the work and to the decisions from day one and that no two weeks look the same.
You'll be assisting our Director across every aspect of the design process and supporting projects from concept through to completion, designing alongside her, and making sure the detail behind each scheme holds together.
Design and concept
- Contributing to schemes and design ideas under the director's direction
- Developing colour, material and finish palettes
- Researching products and suppliers to suit each brief
Boards and presentations - Main focus of the role
- Building multi-page material and concept board sets in Canva
- Building physical material schemes, assembling the samples, finishes and swatches a client sees and handles
- Preparing product specification schedules
- Keeping project files, versions and schedules organised
Visuals
- Working from our architect's CAD elevations to apply materiality and produce client visuals
- Using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or similar) to create concept imagery and visualise schemes
- You will not be drawing in CAD - our in-house architect does that
Sourcing and samples
- Sourcing FF&E, fabrics, wallcoverings, lighting, furniture and finishes
- Visiting suppliers showrooms with the director
- Ordering, chasing, filing and labelling samples, and owning the studio sample library
- Sorting samples into project files and keeping them organised and up to date against the FF&E schedules
- Supplier correspondence and follow-up
Project support
- Tracking orders, deliveries and lead times, and chasing what's outstanding
- Keeping schedules, trackers and project records current
- Occasionally joining site visits and client meetings
Being honest about the job
Some weeks are flat out, installs, deliveries, sample chasing, everything at once. Others are quieter and give you real time to focus on boards and visuals. You'll need to be comfortable with both.
The director leads the design direction on every project. This role is for someone who loves the craft of putting a scheme together - sourcing it, building it, visualising it and getting every detail right - rather than someone looking to lead their own projects.
A good part of the work is the unglamorous half: chasing a sample for the fourth time, checking a reference against the supplier's current range, labelling a folder properly. If that feels beneath you, this isn't the right role. If you know it's what stops a scheme falling apart on site, we'd like to hear from you.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in interior design, or on the floor of a trade fabric, furniture or lighting showroom
- A genuinely strong eye - proportion, colour, materials, and how a board reads as a whole
- Confidence in Canva, working at volume and keeping versions straight
- Comfort with AI image tools, and - just as importantly - the judgement to tell when an AI-generated visual isn't accurate enough to put in front of a client
- Real knowledge of materials and finishes, and the confidence to deal with suppliers directly
- Someone who checks their own work before handing it over
- Organised, and able to keep several projects moving at once
- A strong work ethic and positive attitude
What we provide
All software and subscriptions except CAD. A studio in NW4 Hendon, and travel to showrooms and sites reimbursed.
