Full job description

Cowfold Medical Group are seeking a part time Counter Assistant to support our busy dispensary team.

We are a friendly patient focused doctors surgery based in West Sussex serving a rural patient population of approximately 5,000. patients.

We are looking for a friendly, patient focused person to be a welcoming face of the dispensary. Under the supervision of the dispensary manager you will be responsible for ensuring a face to face patient friendly service. Responsible for dealing with queries, taking payments and processing daily administrative duties. Working 21.5 hrs per week across 3 afternoons, 1pm-5.30pm and a Friday all day.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing exceptional customer service at the dispensary counter and over the telephone.
Processing paper, electronic, and online repeat prescription requests using SystmOne.
Verifying NHS prescription exemption declarations and processing card/cash payments.
Unpacking wholesaler deliveries, checking invoices, and maintaining stock rotation.
Carrying out daily temperature checks and ensuring cold-chain items (e.g., insulin) are stored promptly.
Managing uncollected prescriptions and assisting with prescription batch submission.

What We Are Looking For:

Essential: GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above), strong IT skills, excellent accuracy and attention to detail, and a compassionate, professional customer service manner.
Desirable: Experience using SystmOne, an active NHS Smartcard, or previous experience in a GP practice or pharmacy environment. An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services/Dispensing Assistant is advantageous but not essential.
