Full job description

Artist Residence Penzance is looking for a hands-on, quality-driven Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead our small, independent kitchen.

This isn’t a corporate role.
It’s a chance to be part of something personal.

We’re an independent boutique hotel — creative, welcoming and proudly unpretentious. Food is central to how guests experience our house, and we’re looking for someone who wants to take real ownership of that.

The Role

You’ll lead a small, seasonal kitchen in a relaxed but quality-focused environment.

Winter: confidently run solo shifts and keep standards high.
Summer: coach and inspire a small team through busy services and garden events.

You’ll take responsibility for:

Food GP and margins
Costing, stock control and ordering
Cleanliness, EHO and strong kitchen systems
Consistency and quality on every plate
Team leadership, mentoring and culture
Clear communication with FOH and management

This is about pride, ownership and building something properly — not just running service.
