12 Month Maternity Cover Contract | Starting July 2026

Are you an experienced housekeeping professional who takes pride in delivering exceptional standards, inspiring teams, and creating outstanding experiences for clients and guests?

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping operation in Portsmouth on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a key leadership role within a busy hotel environment, where you will have the opportunity to inspire your team, maintain exceptional standards, and make a real impact every day.

You will play a vital role in ensuring our housekeeping operation runs smoothly, efficiently, and consistently delivers excellence.

Working Pattern

40 hours per week | 5 days out of 7

What You’ll Be Doing

As Head Housekeeper, you will:

Lead, motivate, and support your housekeeping team to achieve outstanding service standards
Create a positive and engaging team environment where people feel valued and encouraged to develop
Oversee daily housekeeping operations, including stock control, linen management, equipment, and workflow planning
Ensure health, safety, and compliance standards are always maintained
Build strong and positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and key stakeholders
Monitor performance, manage budgets, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members, helping them achieve their full potential
Carry out regular room inspections to maintain quality standards and drive continuous improvement
Support wider business activities, including meetings, reporting, and operational planning

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Proven experience as a Head Housekeeper or senior housekeeping leader within a hotel environment
Availability to start in July 2026 for an initial 12-month maternity cover contract (until July 2027)
Strong leadership skills with experience managing, motivating, and developing teams
Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
Confidence managing budgets, KPIs, and operational performance
A strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenges calmly and positively
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards and a great attitude
