Full job description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen in our local village pub. The successful candidate will oversee daily kitchen operations, ensure the delivery of high-quality food, and maintain exceptional standards of food safety and hygiene. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate culinary professional with strong leadership skills to contribute to a vibrant hospitality environment.

Duties

Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, ensuring efficient workflow and team cohesion
Oversee food production, ensuring dishes meet quality standards and presentation expectations
Plan menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
Monitor food safety compliance, maintaining hygiene standards in line with legal regulations
Coordinate food preparation and cooking activities to ensure timely service during busy periods
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs effectively
Train and mentor staff on culinary techniques, safety procedures, and customer service standards
Assist in serving customers when necessary, ensuring a positive dining experience for all guests
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment at all times

Requirements

Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen setting, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality environment
Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation and cooking techniques
Demonstrable team management abilities with leadership qualities to motivate staff
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
Experience in food production planning and inventory control
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure during peak hours
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with staff and management
Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, along with serving experience in a hospitality context
Passion for culinary arts and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences
