Job Description

The role

The purpose of the role is to provide specialist support for all matters concerning Music Technology, Production, Live Sound, Recording and Broadcasting across the whole School, as directed by the Head of Music Production.

Hours of work will vary according to pupil needs but is estimated to be 12 hours, on an hourly rate of £12.71.

This role is to work Term time only, which is 35 weeks per annum (paid for 39.91 weeks, to include entitlement to holiday pay).

The Department

The Music Department is housed in an old Georgian Rectory, now the Gascoigne Building, near the centre of the School and the town. The Gascoigne Building provides an attractive and well-equipped environment for music education. The School has a fleet of 54 pianos, its own Music Library, and the chapel has 3 organs: a three manual instrument, built in 1984 by Frobenius of Denmark, a 5-stop continuo organ by Johnson and a Copeman Hart instrument, built in 2000.

The Music Department presently consists of the Director of Music, Head of Academic Music and School Organist, 5 Heads of Instruments specialising in Wind & Brass, Strings, Piano, Singing, Music Production, an Academic Music Teacher, supported by a team of part-time visiting instrumental teachers and two Administrators.

The School

Oundle and Laxton Junior Schools have long been associated with the very best of modern independent education, especially boarding. Over 1400 pupils are on roll at the School, of whom 840 are full boarders. Academic results are steadfastly excellent.

A team of around 800 staff, both academic and support, ensure an education of the highest standard is in place across the Schools with the efforts of the whole team focused on this fundamental aim.
