About YESS

Your Emotional Support Service (YESS) is a mental health and wellbeing charity based in Uttoxeter and operating throughout Staffordshire and Derbyshire.

Our dedicated team of counsellors and psychotherapists provide emotional support and opportunities for people of all ages; children, young people and adults. Our therapy team consists of art psychotherapists, person-centred counsellors, integrative counsellors and dance movement psychotherapists. YESS is an organisational member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) and we have practitioners who are also registered members.

Pro-Rata Salary - receive a steady, guaranteed monthly income spread evenly across all 12 months of the year including through the holidays

15 HOURS PER WEEK TERM TIME ONLY (FIXED TERM CONTRACT UNTIL JULY 2027, WITH POTENTIAL FOR EXTENSION OR TO BECOME PERMANENT)

Salary: £26,227 FTE (Full-Time Equivalent). Actual salary for 15 hours per week, term-time only: £9,659 per annum

JOB SUMMARY:

Counsellors/Psychotherapists must be able to offer both brief and longer-term therapeutic interventions to both Adults and Children & Young People.

This role requires the counsellor/psychotherapist to be able to work independently within a school or community setting delivering one-to-one or group counselling to clients.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

To offer professional therapeutic one-to-one and group interventions to Adults and Children & Young People referred to YESS through various projects
To offer and provide innovative ways of delivering therapy
To provide initial assessments and evaluate clinical risk and the appropriateness of counselling for clients referred to YESS
To liaise with professionals, parents and carers of Children & Young People during therapy where appropriate to ensure support is maintained for the client
To establish and maintain effective working relationships with professionals, including school staff, to ensure effective communication and support for clients
To respond to duty calls and enquiries from professionals, parents and carers as required
To fulfil professional clinical supervision requirements
To work in line with YESS policies and procedures, including safeguarding and confidentiality
To be a registered member of a recognised professional body such as: BACP, NCPS, HCPC, etc
To work in line with relevant ethical framework, working in a safe and ethical manner at all times
To attend all line management, all staff and internal training meetings
To maintain adequate records of clinical work
To assist in the evaluation of the service by contributing to data collection and analysis and to participate in research as required
To maintain training and continued professional development
To participate in any other activities as agreed with the service managers including any relevant meetings with professionals as required
To be aware of and comply with the policies, procedures and service standards
Represent and promote YESS within both the local community and schools

Person Specification

Essential

Diploma in Counselling, MSc in Counselling, or equivalent counselling qualification. Applicants currently working towards an MSc will be considered where the diploma component has been successfully completed
To be a registered member of a recognised professional body
Experience of working with Adults and Children & Young People
Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and issues

Desirable

Experience of delivering therapy within schools
Experience of group work with children and young people
Knowledge of local safeguarding procedures
Experience of outcome monitoring and service evaluation
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
