Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality support and personal care to individuals in nursing homes. Your energetic approach will help enhance the quality of life for residents and clients by delivering attentive, respectful, and personalized care. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while working in a supportive and engaging environment.

Responsibilities

Assist residents and clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing symptoms, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals
Support medication administration following HIPAA regulations and care plans established by nurses or medical staff
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal service
Maintain cleanliness of the living environment through regular cleaning duties to promote hygiene and safety
Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s <PERSON> to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance
Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to foster emotional well-being
Document patient observations accurately and contribute to ongoing care plans
Follow safety protocols including CPR, first aid, and infection control procedures at all times
Support patients with specialized needs such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorders, or developmental disabilities with patience and understanding
Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and adherence to care plans
Assist with patient monitoring during hospice or palliative care situations as required

Qualifications

Prior experience in group home settings, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care is highly preferred
Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs measurement
Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance or dementia care are advantageous
Experience working with individuals with disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorders or memory care needs is desirable
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and resident interaction
Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the lives of others
Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
