Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Tiler or Mate to join me. In this role, you will assist an experienced tiler in preparing work sites, handling tools, and supporting the installation of tiles across various projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry while developing valuable skills in tiling, carpentry, and site safety. Duties
- Assist senior tilers with preparing surfaces, including cleaning, leveling, and measuring areas for tiling work
- Handle and operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision
- Support the installation of tiles by mixing adhesives, applying grout, and ensuring proper placement according to schematics and project specifications
- Help with site setup, including organizing materials and maintaining a tidy work environment
- Follow safety protocols at all times, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Assist with carpentry tasks related to framing or backing for tile installations when required
- Support construction painting tasks as needed to ensure project completion aligns with quality standards
Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction or a related trade is preferred but not mandatory; a willingness to learn is essential
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic construction techniques
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and safety awareness
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Physically fit with the ability to stand, bend, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in various conditions
- Own transport is essential if from outside the ilkeston area as jobs can be nottinghamshire and derbyshire
