Job description
Catena is looking for an experienced Steel Fabricator Welder to join our growing workshop team in Pinxton. This is a hands-on role working on a variety of fabrications to customer drawings and specifications, both in our workshop and occasionally on customer sites.
You will play a key role in producing high-quality fabricated and welded components while maintaining the company’s strong standards in quality, safety and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate parts from drawings and verbal instructions within agreed timescales
- Weld, tack weld and straighten fabrications as required
- Inspect and review work to ensure it meets specifications
- Conduct final inspections of completed items
- Follow company procedures, checklists and quality requirements
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
- Work safely and follow health, safety and environmental procedures
- Support colleagues and contribute ideas to improve efficiency and teamwork
- Carry out weld tests and work to approved welding procedures when required
Working environment
This role is primarily workshop-based within a busy engineering environment. The workshop can be noisy, dirty, and vary in temperature depending on the season.
Occasionally, you may also work on customer sites ranging from clean rooms to water treatment facilities and liaise with colleagues in the office when required.
Essential requirements
- Level 3 Apprenticeship in Metal Fabrication (or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in fabrication
- Experience of working with different sized fabrications of varying complexities
- GCSE (or equivalent) Grade 4+ in Maths and English
- Ability to read and work accurately from engineering drawings
- Experience working with tolerances and dimensions
- Experience straightening welded products
- Experience inspecting your own work and that of others
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
Desirable skills
- Experience working to aerospace or nuclear drawings
- Experience fitting to drawings
- Proof load testing experience
- Manufacturing from sketches or written descriptions
- Forklift licence
- Crane experience

- Standard working hours (39hrs per week) with flexibility for overtime when required
