About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Property Inspector to join our Asset Management Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving the quality, safety and longevity of residents' homes across Colchester.
Working within a forward-thinking Asset Management Team, you will lead on the delivery of housing improvement programmes, defect investigations and hazard rectification projects. You will manage a varied portfolio of projects and contracts, ensuring works are delivered to the highest standards, on time and within budget.
The role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on residents' lives through the management of works arising from Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) inspections and other property improvement initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to mentor and develop Assistant Asset Managers, Apprentices and Trainees, helping to shape the next generation of housing and property professionals.

You Will Have
- A minimum HNC/HND qualification, or equivalent, in Building, Construction or a related discipline.
- Strong communication, project management, organisational and ICT skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
- Relevant post-qualification experience.
- Sound knowledge of building pathology, repairs and maintenance processes within a local authority, housing provider or similar organisation.
- Experience in preparing specifications and building design solutions.
- Experience of managing Health and Safety processes and compliance requirements.
- A thorough understanding of construction practices and relevant legislation and regulations.
- Good knowledge of rented and leasehold property maintenance, including Section 20 consultation procedures.
You Will Be
- Confident in managing budgets, valuing works and certifying payments.
- Skilled in surveying residential buildings and structures and managing projects from inception through to completion.
- Able to effectively manage multiple projects and programmes simultaneously.
- A collaborative team player who can also work independently and use their own initiative.
- Excellent at building and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues, contractors and residents.
- Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and improving residents' homes and communities.
