CNC/CAM Programmer (CAM Set Up)
Yoke Vans (Yoke CNC Ltd) — Borehamwood, WD6 5PH £30,000 – £35,000 per year (depending on experience and skill level) Full-time, Permanent
Overview
We are looking for a dedicated CAM Setup Technician/CNC Programmer to join our team. This is a specialist role focused purely on CAM setup, ensuring our CNC operations run efficiently by preparing and managing CAM files.
You will be responsible for understanding and working with our product systems and databases to set up both standard products and bespoke work. This role works closely with the design team, supporting them in streamlining production workflows.
This is a full-time, on-site role.
About Us
We are Yoke Vans (Yoke CNC Ltd), a fast-growing company specialising in high-volume panel CNC work and premium plywood van racking solutions. Our CNC machines run continuously, making efficient CAM setup a vital part of our operation. We have ambitious expansion plans and are looking for skilled professionals to join us and grow within our company.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage CAM files for CNC production.
- Work with our product system and databases to collate correct products and parts for machining.
- Nest components efficiently to optimise material use and machine time.
- Apply and adjust operation templates to standardise machining processes.
- Modify or create new machining operations where necessary.
- Assist the design team by ensuring CAM setups align with product requirements.
- Identify and resolve any CAM-related issues before production.
- Ensure all machining data is well-documented and follows internal standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience with CAM software (such as Solidworks, Fusion 360, VCarve, AlphaCAM, or similar).
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes (especially related to panel work and routing).
- Experience working in a 3D CAD/CAM environment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and product data to create accurate CAM setups.
- Experience with nesting software and optimisation techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot machining issues within CAM.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple setups.
- Knowledge of material handling and CNC tooling is a plus.
Who We're Looking For
This role is ideal for someone with strong CAM knowledge who wants to specialise in optimising CNC workflows rather than hands-on machine operation. While the role focuses purely on CAM setup, there is potential for progression into design work in the future.
We are open to both experienced candidates and those with strong technical aptitude who are eager to learn and grow into the role.
Salary & Benefits
- £30,000 – £35,000 per year (depending on experience and skill level). Starting salary within this band depends on demonstrated experience, reviewed at the end of probation.
- Monthly Recognition Award scheme celebrating outstanding contributions across the team.
- Company pension.
- Free on-site parking.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, Monday to Friday.
- Occasional weekend work may be required.
- Appointment is subject to a probationary period (six months).
