Full job description

Job Overview

To plan, deliver, and evaluate targeted intervention programmes that support pupils who are performing below expected levels, support EHCP provision or who require additional academic support. The Interventions Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to accelerate student progress.

Working with students across multiple year groups. Requires flexibility to support changing students needs and intervention priorities.

Teaching and Learning

Plan and deliver high-quality intervention lessons for individuals and small groups.
Deliver bespoke interventions in line with EHCP provision.
Assess students' learning needs and identify appropriate intervention strategies.
Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet diverse learning needs.
Support students in developing literacy, numeracy, and subject-specific skills.
Monitor and evaluate student progress regularly.

Assessment and Monitoring

Use assessment data to identify students requiring intervention.
Maintain accurate records of student achievement and progress.
Set measurable targets and review outcomes against these targets.
Provide feedback to students, parents, and school staff.

Collaboration

Work closely with class teachers to align interventions with classroom learning.
Collaborate with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and other support staff.
Participate in meetings regarding student progress and support plans.
Communicate effectively with parents and carers.

Student Support

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Build students' confidence, motivation, and engagement in learning.
Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs where appropriate.

Professional Responsibilities

Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
Keep up to date with best practices in intervention teaching and educational research.

Practice  

Ensure that all students, adults and visitors are treated with dignity and respect, in an environment which reflects the importance of and their right to be treated as valuable worthwhile individuals.  
Ensure every step necessary to ensure that students are protected from neglect, abuse and exploitation.  
Maintain strict confidentiality. 
Report any safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead/Head Teacher.

Continuous Professional Development 

Assume responsibility for own professional and personal development. 
Maintain a high level of competence to deliver the organisation’s requirements. 
Ensure a robust and thorough working knowledge of fire regulations, H&S, children’s safeguarding and all relevant regulatory and legal requirements impacting on the organisation and services. 
Attend and participate in supervisions
Undertake relevant mandatory training.

Safeguarding

Ensure that the Safeguarding Policy is always followed.
Ensure that any safeguarding concerns are reported and followed-up without any undue delay
When required, complete fact-finding investigations for safeguarding allegations
