Coach — Full Time
Catalyst Training | Cirencester, Gloucestershire
Full-time, employed | Approximately 40 hours per week
Salary: £25,000-28,000 per year
Target start date: September 2026
About the role:
Catalyst Training is looking for a confident, personable Coach to join our team on a full-time, employed basis.
This role would suit someone who already has experience coaching within the fitness industry and is now looking for a more stable, team-based career. You may currently be working as a personal trainer without the consistent diary you want, or coaching part-time and looking for an opportunity to develop within an established facility.
We are not looking for a newly qualified apprentice. We are looking for someone who understands the fundamentals of good coaching, communicates brilliantly with people and takes pride in delivering an excellent experience every time they step onto the gym floor.
You will coach both our Small Group Personal Training service and our Large Group Training sessions, which include Engine, Functional Fitness and Metcon. The role also includes supporting a small cohort of clients and contributing to the day-to-day standards and operation of the gym.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering high-quality Small Group Personal Training sessions.
- Coaching our Large Group Training products: Engine, Functional Fitness and Metcon.
- Creating a welcoming, inclusive and engaging environment for members of different ages and abilities.
- Coaching movement effectively, including demonstrating exercises, providing clear cues and adapting sessions appropriately for the individual.
- Building genuine relationships with members and helping them remain consistent with their training.
- Supporting a small cohort of clients through regular contact, accountability and appropriate follow-up.
- Preparing the gym before sessions and resetting equipment afterwards.
- Helping maintain a clean, safe and professional training environment.
- Completing a small number of operational tasks that support the day-to-day running of the facility.
- Working closely with the wider coaching team to maintain consistently high standards.
- Participating in ongoing mentoring, internal development and CPD.
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
- A recognised Level 3 Personal Training qualification.
- Previous experience coaching clients within a gym or fitness environment.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- The confidence to lead both small and large groups.
- The ability to coach, regress and progress exercises for different experience and ability levels.
- A reliable, organised and professional approach.
- A genuine interest in people and in providing a high-quality member experience.
- Willingness to contribute to cleaning, resetting and the everyday upkeep of the gym.
- Availability to work a varied rota that includes early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Desirable:
- At least one year of experience working within the fitness industry.
- Experience coaching strength training, conditioning or functional fitness.
- Experience working with a broad range of clients rather than only highly trained athletes.
- Further relevant qualifications or evidence of continued professional development.
We value coaching ability, character and willingness to develop more than an extensive list of qualifications. If you meet the essential requirements and believe you would be a strong fit for our team, we would be pleased to hear from you.
What we offer:
- A full-time, employed coaching position with consistent hours.
- Salary of £25,000-28,000 per year.
- Free Catalyst Training membership.
- Ongoing mentoring and coach development.
- Continued professional development opportunities.
- Holiday pay and sick pay.
- Career progression opportunities.
- Team social events.
- The opportunity to work as part of a supportive, established coaching team.
Working pattern:
This is an approximately 40-hour-per-week role. Our sessions take place across early mornings, daytime hours, evenings and weekends, so the successful applicant must be comfortable working a varied rota. The exact working pattern will be discussed during the recruitment process.
