Full job description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR & Business Administration Manager to oversee our human resources and business administration functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the HR system and ensuring the smooth operation of administrative processes relating to HR and payroll. This role requires strong management, organisational and communication skills. The ideal applicant will possess proven HR, payroll and leadership experience.

£30,000 to £35,000 per annum, pro rata. Three days per week, 24 hours in total, including a 30-minute lunch break.

First stage interviews are expected to take place from Monday 24th August 2026. An immediate start is available following the successful completion of our two-stage interview process.

Key Responsibilities

· Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the full recruitment process, including advertising vacancies, screening CVs, arranging and conducting first interviews, completing right-to-work checks, preparing offer letters and contracts, and coordinating employee onboarding and induction. Make informed candidate decisions and advise the relevant departments on which applicants are suitable to progress to a second interview. Ensure the recruitment process remains in line with company policies and current legislation.

· HR Administration: Maintain accurate and confidential employee records; process contractual changes, promotions, salary amendments and leavers; and ensure all HR documentation is up to date and compliant. Ensure the company remains compliant with current employment law and is kept informed of relevant changes.

· Employee Relations: Act as the first point of contact for HR queries, support managers with disciplinary and grievance processes, assist in resolving workplace issues, and provide practical day-to-day HR advice across the business. Effectively escalate serious or complex HR issues to our external HR partners and work proactively with them to find appropriate resolutions. Communicate effectively with relevant managers and Heads of Department to support employee wellbeing and ensure HR matters are handled consistently across the business.

· Payroll Administration: Prepare the monthly payroll for submission to our external finance team, maintain accurate payroll records, process starters, leavers and contractual changes, prepare payroll reports, and liaise with the finance team to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.

· Time & Attendance: Monitor attendance, working hours, annual leave and TOIL, maintain the time and attendance systems, produce reports to support payroll preparation, and investigate attendance-related matters where required.

· Financial and Business Administration: Liaise and work with our external finance team to maintain up-to-date records of business insurance and distribute relevant documentation to the appropriate managers. Act as the main point of communication between the business and finance/ HR teams on matters relating to HR, employee payroll, insurance and compliance.

· Compliance & HR: Support the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and employment documentation, ensuring compliance with current employment legislation. You will benefit from strong external HR support from advisors who have worked with the business for over 10 years and have a deep understanding of employment law, as well as support from a CFO who has been in position for over 20 years. Our external HR partners will provide expert guidance on complex HR and employee-related legal matters, allowing you to confidently manage day-to-day HR administration while receiving support on more technical employment issues.

· Operations Director Support: Provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Operations Director. This may include assisting with employment-related or other legal disputes, preparing and coordinating documentation, liaising with external advisors, supporting projects, business administration and reporting, and carrying out a wide variety of day-to-day operational tasks relating to your department.

About You

You will be able to manage your workload proactively and independently, with minimal day-to-day supervision.

You will have a proven record of handling HR disputes and employee relations matters.

You will have experience in payroll preparation and administration.

You will have exceptionally strong IT skills, allowing you to work confidently across multiple platforms and to recommend and implement new applications or systems where appropriate.

You will be a very strong and confident communicator.

You will preferably have experience using Rotacloud, Xero and Breathe HR, or other similar systems.

You will be able to manage your own time and priorities effectively without constant management.

You will be able to assess the severity of HR-related matters and escalate them appropriately.

You will preferably love food as much as we do and enjoy working in a fast-paced event catering environment.
