Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Butchery Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the butchery operations, ensuring that high-quality meat products are prepared and presented to our customers. This position requires a keen interest in food preparation and safety, as well as a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and quality.

Responsibilities

Assist the butcher in preparing various cuts of meat, including beef, pork, and poultry.
Ensure all meat products are handled and stored according to food safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the butchery area, including proper sanitation of tools and equipment.
Support the preparation of meat for display, ensuring attractive presentation for customers.
Follow recipes and instructions for marinating or seasoning meats as required.
Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and reporting any shortages.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely supply of meat products for food preparation.

Skills

Previous experience in a restaurant or kitchen environment is advantageous.
Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety practices is essential.
Familiarity with butchery processes and terminology is preferred but not mandatory.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
A passion for culinary arts and an eagerness to learn about food production processes.
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
