Full job description

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Caribbean Chef to join our team at Caribbean Classic. We welcome applications from chefs at different levels, including Junior Chef, Chef de Partie, Senior Chef and Sous Chef.

Key Duties:

Prepare, season, marinate and cook authentic Caribbean/Jamaican dishes to a high standard.
Prepare dishes such as jerk chicken, curry goat, oxtail, brown stew chicken, fried chicken, pepper steak, rice & peas, mac & cheese, plantain, dumplings, festival, Rasta pasta, fish and seafood dishes.
Prepare homemade Caribbean sauces, gravies, marinades and seasonings.
Grill, fry, steam, roast, stew and use the jerk pan/grill where required.
Prepare ingredients and complete food preparation before service.
Maintain consistent taste, quality, presentation and portion sizes.
Cater for vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian and allergen requirements.
Follow all food hygiene, food safety and allergen procedures.
Keep kitchen areas, equipment and workstations clean and organised.
Assist with stock rotation, deliveries and reducing food waste.
Work efficiently as part of the kitchen team during busy service periods.
Senior-level applicants may also be responsible for supervising and supporting junior kitchen staff.

Requirements:

Previous Caribbean/Jamaican cooking experience is preferred, particularly for experienced chef positions. Applicants should be reliable, organised, able to work well under pressure and passionate about producing high-quality, authentic Caribbean food.

Junior applicants with good kitchen experience and a genuine willingness to learn Caribbean cuisine will also be considered.
