Full job description

Come build the machinery of a debt-free economy: the staircasing engine, Amana savings, and the Bayuti Readiness Score.

The financial system most of us grew up in works brilliantly, for the few. Wealth flows upward, everyone fights alone, and the system earns most when people struggle. A thirty-year debt is called "getting on the ladder."

We think that's a design flaw. So we're building a different design.

Our Why: to connect people in shared prosperity, so that the economy serves the many, not the few.

Bayuti, our flagship platform, lets families buy homes with zero debt. They own a share from day one, a community of everyday investors owns the rest as partners, and every three months the family buys a little more until the home is entirely theirs. No loan. No lender. No one carrying the risk alone.

Here's why this page exists: at Bayuti, the code is the system. There is no branch network, no call centre empire, no legacy bank behind the curtain. The staircasing engine that cuts a family's rent every quarter, the ledger that pays a saver's profit monthly, the score that tells a renter exactly when they'll be ready to own: these are not features about the mission. They are the mission, compiled and deployed. When you ship, the system we believe in exists a little more than it did yesterday.

What you'll actually build

Not abstractions: the working parts of a new economy.

The staircasing engine. Quarterly equity purchases that make a family's rent fall, every three months, until it reaches zero.
Amana. Savings that earn 5%, paid monthly, from the first £50.
The Bayuti Readiness Score. The honest, transparent engine that tells a homebuyer exactly what stands between them and day one.
Bayuti Finder. Property search where every result is pre-qualified against our financing model.
The giving loop. Investors gifting part of their monthly returns to community causes, built into the product.

Who thrives here, and who won't

This is for you if: you've ever looked at how finance treats ordinary people and thought "this could be built differently"; you want your commits to compound into something your community will feel; you take pride in software that is honest by design; and you want to be early in a small team where technology is the strategy, not a support function.

This is probably not for you if: you want a large company routine, a codebase someone else worries about, or a product you feel neutral about. We hire people who believe what we believe: skills can be taught, belief can't.

How we work

Every member of our technology team is expected to: take ownership of the quality of their work; build software with security, resilience and maintainability in mind; collaborate openly across teams; continuously learn and improve; and focus on solving customer problems rather than simply completing development tasks.

Key responsibilitiesApplication development

Develop, maintain and enhance modern web and mobile applications.
Build responsive, intuitive interfaces using modern frontend technologies.
Develop backend services, APIs and integrations.
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code; participate in code reviews.

Quality and security

Follow ECMS development standards and coding best practices.
Develop secure applications following security by design principles.
Support testing, bug fixing and production issue resolution.

Collaboration

Work closely with the CTO, lead developers, product owners and business stakeholders.
Participate in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives.
Collaborate with UI/UX designers, QA testers and infrastructure teams.

Core technical skillsEssential

2–5 years of professional full stack development experience.
Strong hands-on experience with: Next.js, Nest.js, React / React Native, Node.js and Express.js, Tailwind CSS, MongoDB and Sequelize.
Experience developing RESTful APIs and implementing secure authentication (JWT, OAuth, Auth0 or similar).
Experience integrating third-party APIs and payment providers (e.g. Stripe).
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.

Desirable

Docker and containerisation; CI/CD pipelines; microservices.
Exposure to AI-powered applications or automation tools.
