Full job description

Albert Rees Butchers & Carmarthen Deli is looking for an experienced butcher to join our growing team in Carmarthen.

We are a sixth-generation family butchers, combining traditional craft butchery with a busy modern deli and food business. As the business continues to grow, we're looking for someone with good practical butchery skills who can get stuck in and become an important part of the team.

The role will include:

Traditional cutting, boning, trimming and meat preparation
Preparing meat for our retail counter and customer orders
Sausage, burger and value-added product production
Maintaining excellent standards of presentation, quality and consistency
Stock rotation, waste control and achieving good product yields
Maintaining high food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards
Helping the wider team during busy trading periods
Contributing ideas as we continue to develop our range and grow the business

Who we're looking for

We're particularly interested in hearing from experienced butchers, although we would also consider someone earlier in their butchery career who has good practical skills and the right attitude to develop further.

We're looking for someone who:

Has practical butchery experience
Can work confidently and to a high standard
Takes pride in the quality and presentation of their work
Is reliable and works well as part of a team
Understands the importance of cleanliness, organisation and food safety
Is willing to get involved wherever needed
Wants to be part of a business that's developing and growing

Above all, we're looking for someone who takes pride in their trade and wants to do things properly.
