Altrad are seeking an experienced and capable Construction Manager to lead the integration of Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC disciplines within an assigned area on Hinkley Point C.
This role will be based at Hinkley Point C on a permanent basis and will provide operational control of the area, ensuring coordinated execution, effective workface readiness, controlled material flow and efficient installation sequencing. Working across the MEH disciplines, you will ensure teams operate to a single coordinated plan, manage interfaces and constraints, minimise disruption and drive safe, consistent progress across the area.
Key Deliverables / Accountabilities:
- Direct and coordinate all MEH discipline teams, including Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC, within the assigned area.
- Ensure all works are aligned to a single, coordinated plan, including the PLOW.
- Manage interfaces between disciplines to prevent clashes, delays, disruption and rework.
- Ensure all MEH disciplines operate to a single, aligned PLOW.
- Ensure installation activities are delivered in the correct sequence and planned week.
- Drive a high level of PLOW adherence across the assigned area.
- Reduce out-of-sequence installation and unplanned or “00/00” activities.
- Ensure workfaces are consistently available, unobstructed and ready for installation.
- Coordinate and ensure all workface prerequisites are closed ahead of planned installation activities.
- Control the movement, location and sequencing of materials within live construction environments.
- Ensure materials are correctly located and sequenced to support installation activities.
- Maintain an organised material environment, minimising unnecessary congestion and reducing rehandling and double handling.
- Ensure resources are effectively utilised, with Riggers focused on lifting and positioning activities, Material Controllers focused on tracking and control, and HSO/labour support used for movement and housekeeping.
- Maintain clear role responsibilities and minimise unnecessary crossover between resource functions.
- Maintain consistent housekeeping standards across all workfaces.
- Ensure clear, safe and accessible routes are maintained throughout the assigned area.
- Identify constraints and potential blockers at an early stage and drive their timely resolution.
- Reduce constraints impacting planned installation activities and overall progress.
- Ensure all works are executed safely and in accordance with project procedures and requirements.
- Drive right-first-time installation performance and compliance with quality requirements.
- Monitor and improve productivity and installation progress across the assigned area through effective coordination and sequencing.
- Provide effective site-based leadership, ensuring teams remain aligned with programme, safety, quality and delivery objectives.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
- Experience coordinating multi-discipline MEH installation activities within a defined area or building.
- Proven ability to control construction activities in line with programme and sequence requirements, including PLOW or an equivalent planning system.
- Experience managing interfaces between multiple disciplines to prevent clashes, delays and rework.
- Strong understanding of workface readiness and prerequisite coordination.
- Experience managing materials within live construction environments and controlling material flow.
- Proven ability to drive schedule adherence and planned installation performance.
- Experience leading site-based construction teams and ensuring effective utilisation of resources.
- Experience working on large-scale and complex construction or infrastructure projects, with nuclear experience or experience in a similarly regulated environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, workface planning and delivery coordination.
- Strong focus on health and safety, quality and compliance within a controlled construction environment.
- Excellent communication, coordination and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple disciplines and stakeholders effectively.
