Working Foreman / Experienced Builder

We’re looking for an experienced Bricklayer / Builder to join us as a Working Foreman.
This is not an office-based site management role. We need someone who can lead from the front, work on the tools and take responsibility for keeping a project moving.
Our work is predominantly residential extensions, conversions, refurbishments and new builds.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of projects while remaining hands-on with the build.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Groundworks
- Brickwork/Blockwork
- Steelwork
- General building works
- Reading architectural and structural drawings
- Setting out
- Organising and working alongside other trades
- Planning work ahead and keeping projects on programme
- Making sure materials are ordered/requested in good time
- Checking workmanship and maintaining our quality standards
- Keeping sites clean, organised and professional
- Communicating progress and issues back to management
- Dealing professionally with clients while working in their homes
- Taking ownership of problems and helping find solutions
Who we’re looking for
Ideally, you’ll be a time-served bricklayer with strong all-round building experience and a good understanding of the complete construction process.
Groundworks and Joinery experience would be a big advantage, particularly foundations, drainage, concrete, floor preparation, roofs, 1st and 2nd fix.
You don’t need to be a groundworker by trade, but we want somebody who understands how a project comes together from digging the foundations right through to the finishing stages.
You’ll need to be:
- Experienced in extensions, conversions and/or new builds
- Confident running a site and organising trades
- Comfortable working on the tools
- Able to read and understand drawings
- Able to plan ahead rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Reliable, organised and professional
- Particular about quality
- Good at communicating with both the team and clients
- Willing to take responsibility and lead by example
Previous foreman experience would be great, but we’d also consider an experienced bricklayer/builder who is ready to step up and take more responsibility.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid would be advantageous.
