Sheet Metal Worker / Press Brake Operator

Location: Near Chelmsford, Essex
Salary: Up to £18.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: Day Shift, Monday to Friday
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Worker / Press Brake Operator to join our client's growing manufacturing team. This is a permanent day shift position offering excellent long-term prospects for someone with a strong background in sheet metal fabrication and CNC press brake operation.

Working from engineering drawings, you will manufacture high-quality sheet metal components to customer specifications while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC press brake machines.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
Manufacture sheet metal components to tight tolerances.
Select appropriate tooling and carry out machine set-ups.
Perform first-off and in-process quality inspections using measuring equipment.
Support other sheet metal fabrication duties, including deburring, assembly and laser cutting where required.
Ensure work is completed safely, accurately and efficiently.
Maintain a clean and organised working environment.

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience operating and setting CNC press brake machines.
Background in sheet metal fabrication or precision engineering.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, calipers and gauges.
High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A positive attitude with a strong work ethic.

Desirable Skills

Experience with Amada, Bystronic, Trumpf or similar press brake machinery.
Laser cutting or fabrication experience.
Forklift licence (advantageous but not essential).
