Job Summary

We are seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Head of Sales to lead and develop our Specialist Sales Team within the energy brokerage sector. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for delivering the companys commercial growth strategy, driving sales performance, and strengthening our position within the UK energy market.

The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with hands-on sales management, using market insight, customer intelligence and data-driven decision-making to identify opportunities, improve performance and enhance customer retention. They will be passionate about developing high-performing teams, building strong client relationships and delivering exceptional customer outcomes aligned with our company values and ethical standards.

A strong background in B2B energy sales, an in-depth understanding of the UK energy market and proven experience leading successful sales teams are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sales Leadership

Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue, growth and profitability targets.
Drive customer acquisition, retention and account growth across key market sectors.
Identify and develop new business opportunities, including within the charity and third sectors.
Maximise revenue opportunities within the existing customer portfolio through effective account development strategies.
Establish and continuously improve sales management processes, ensuring consistency and operational excellence.
Support the development and delivery of commercial initiatives aligned with company objectives.

Team Leadership and Development

Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing Specialist Sales Team.
Set clear objectives, KPIs and performance expectations, monitoring progress against targets.
Provide regular coaching, mentoring and performance feedback to support individual and team development.
Use sales performance data and conversion metrics to drive continuous improvement and operational effectiveness.
Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture that reflects the company's values and ethical standards.
Promote employee engagement, accountability and high levels of customer service.

Customer and Market Development

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, key stakeholders and industry partners.
Maintain a detailed understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, and competitive activity.
Ensure customer satisfaction remains central to all sales activities, using feedback and insight to improve service delivery.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, webinars and networking opportunities.

Market Intelligence and Industry Expertise

Stay informed of developments within the UK energy market, including regulatory changes, sustainability initiatives, and emerging technologies.
Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify opportunities and risks.
Provide market intelligence and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Reporting and Performance Management

Produce accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports and performance updates for senior management.
Utilise CRM systems and data analytics tools to optimise sales performance, customer engagement and business planning.
Monitor and analyse customer satisfaction measures, including NPS, Trustpilot reviews and customer feedback.
Ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy across all sales activities.

Essential Experience and Skills

Proven track record of success within B2B energy sales, including electricity, gas, renewable energy or related energy solutions.
Demonstrable experience leading and developing successful sales teams.
Strong understanding of the UK energy market, regulatory environment and sustainability agenda.
Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation and influencing skills.
Commercially astute with a strategic and customer-centric approach.
Advanced proficiency in CRM systems and sales performance analytics.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
Highly organised, results-driven and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Desirable

Experience selling into the charity, public sector or third-sector markets.
Knowledge of emerging energy technologies and low-carbon solutions.
Experience leading change, transformation or growth initiatives within a commercial sales environment.

Salary: Up to £75,000 plus bonus and car allowance

Pay: Up to £75,000.00 per year
