Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assessing, planning, and implementing personalised therapy programmes to support patients in achieving their maximum level of independence and quality of life. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive environment, contributing to meaningful patient outcomes through evidence-based practice. The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver tailored interventions that address individual needs across diverse settings.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities to identify therapy needs.
Develop personalised treatment plans based on assessment findings, aligning with best practice guidelines and patient goals.
Deliver therapeutic interventions using a variety of techniques, including activities of daily living training, motor skills development, and adaptive equipment recommendations.
Monitor and evaluate patient progress regularly, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimise outcomes.
Educate patients and their families on strategies to manage conditions and improve functional independence.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with organisational policies.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and social workers to ensure holistic patient care.
Stay informed about current developments in occupational therapy through ongoing professional development activities.

Qualifications

A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy (BSc or MSc) from an accredited institution.
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent regulatory body.
Proven experience working with diverse patient populations across various settings is desirable.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Strong communication skills, demonstrating empathy and the ability to motivate patients during therapy sessions.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to ethical standards within healthcare practice.
