OVERVIEW

Prudhoe Town Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and committed Administrative Assistant to join the Council’s team.

The successful candidate will provide administrative and clerical support to the Town Clerk and Council, contributing to the efficient day-to-day operation of the Council’s office.

The role will involve a range of administrative duties, including responding to enquiries, maintaining records, preparing correspondence and documents, assisting with meetings and agendas, and providing general office support.

The successful applicant will have excellent organisational and communication skills, a professional and approachable manner, good attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Previous administrative experience would be advantageous, together with good IT skills and a willingness to learn.

Key Information

Position: Administrative Assistant
Hours: 20 hours/week
Salary: SCP 2 – 5 (£24,413 – £25,583 (pro rata) depending upon qualifications and experience)
Contract: Fixed-term, one-year contract to provide maternity leave cover
Closing date: 12 Noon, Friday 4 September 2026
Interviews: Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview, with the date and time to be confirmed.
