Senior Risk Analyst

Location: Solihull; a flexible hybrid working model which supports you as well as enabling you to work collaboratively with your colleagues

The Role

As a Senior Risk Analyst at BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the credit strategy for all UK credit products. This position offers significant exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, empowering you to influence business decisions and drive innovation and risk analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Credit Risk Leadership: Lead the review and optimisation of acquisition and customer management credit strategies, leveraging diverse data sources, including credit reference agencies, to develop and validate scorecards, policy rules, pricing, limits management, and affordability models.
Business Performance & Insight: Conduct in depth portfolio management analysis that evaluates the risk profile of the customer base. Proactively monitor performance, identify emerging trends, and recommend actionable solutions to enhance business outcomes.
Executive Engagement: Prepare and present analytical insights at senior forums, including risk committee meetings, with opportunities to showcase proposals directly to the executive team.
Project & Stakeholder Management: Plan, control, and deliver assigned projects, collaborating with Central Risk, Finance, Marketing, Operations, and external partners. Drive new lending strategies within agreed risk appetite and participate in cross-functional initiatives.
Team Leadership & Development: Supervise and mentor junior analysts, managing their workload, fostering knowledge sharing, and ensuring high-quality, timely outputs.
Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process enhancement, and service improvement, always prioritising fair customer treatment and compliance with legal, regulatory, and data protection requirements.

Skills and Attributes

Experience: A track record of managing risk within the consumer lending space.
Education: A degree or higher in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
Technical Skills: Expertise in coding with Python, SAS, or SQL, and a mastery of advanced Microsoft Excel Functions.
Analytical Aptitude: A strong statistical background and a knack for analytical problem-solving.
Communication: The ability to transform complex data and analysis into compelling, easy-to-understand concepts.
Prioritisation: Proven success in managing complex projects and prioritising effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
